Biography: Professor Nwalieji, Hyacinth Udeanya was born on 12th May, 1973 to the family of Late Nze Nwalieji Oforle and Late Mrs. Nkechi Nwalieji in Oyi-Akanator Village Omor, Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. He is married with children. Hyacinth Udeanya Nwalieji is a Full Professor of Agricultural Extension at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam Campus, Anambra State, Nigeria. Prof. Nwalieji holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D) in Agricultural Planning and Evaluation from Department of Agricultural Extension, University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2014. He is the former Head of Food Science & Technology Department, and former Head of Agricultural Economics & Extension Department of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. Prof. Nwalieji held various positions before joining Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University in 2008. These include Agric. Officer in Ayamelum L.G.A by Local Government Civil Service Commission, Awka (2001-2007), Extension Agent (EA) on Secondment to Anambra State ADP, Awka (2001- 2007), HOD Agriculture in Nnewi North L.G.A, Anambra State (2007- 2008), National Programme for Food Security (NPFS) Coordinator, Nnewi North L.G.A. (2007- 2008), and Fadama III Desk Officer 1, Nnewi North L.G.A (2007- 2008). Prof. Nwalieji has also held public positions and worked as Consultant in various capacity for notable organizations/establishments. For staff training and development, Prof. Nwalieji has attended both local and international training and conferences. Some of these include i) Six Weeks Training on “Grain and Oil Processing Technology for Developing Countries” sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by Hunan Agricultural Group Co., Ltd held in Changsha, Hunan, the People’s Republic of China, October 20th – December 2nd, 2011; ii) Four Months Training on Rice Production organized by the Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA) in collaboration with the Lower Anambra Irrigation Project (LAIP) held at Training Centre, Omor, Anambra State, Nigeria- 1991; iv) International Conference on Agriculture and Food, 20th-24th June, 2016 @ Elenite, Bulgaria, sponsored by TETFund; and iv) Numerous local conferences. He has published over 60 articles in reputable book publishers, national and international journals and conference proceedings. He has successfully supervised over 100 undergraduate projects and 35 postgraduate projects (M.Sc. and Ph.D) in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension, COOU. Prof. Nwalieji belonged to the following professional bodies: Agricultural Extension Society of Nigeria (AESON) 1999 to date, Hunan Agricultural Group Family, China 2011 to date, and HYMANIFY VENTURES, 2021 to date. Prof. Nwalieji has teaching and research interest in the following areas:- Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Planning & Evaluation, Rural Sociology and Development, Agricultural Communication, Crop Value Chain (Especially Rice & Cassava), Research Methods and Statistics, Climate Change, Gender in Agriculture, and Consultant in all kinds of Agro and Extension Advisory Services.
