Biography: Mgbemena Mukaosolu Emilia is a professor of Development Economics. She is currently a lecturer in the department of Economics, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam Campus.
She obtained both her B. Sc. And M. Sc. in Economics from the prestigious University of Port Harcourt, and her Ph. D. from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Since her engagement as a teaching staff with Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University in 2005, she her served the University in various capacities. She was the Head of Economics department between 2014 and 2016, the Sub Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, from 2018 to 2020. She has equally served in various committees.
Professor Mukaosolu Mgbemena is listed as the first female professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. Her research interests are in issues relating to rural development, environmental sustainability women empowerment and in stimulating public sector role in the economy. Her contributions to research are published in both national and international journals. She has equally contributed to a number of book publications.
She is a member of the Nigerian Economic Society. Professor Mgbemena is married to Dr. Jude Ikwuakonam Mgbemena and her marriage is blessed with four children.
